God forgives and reinstates everyone if they repent, but you don't let the drunkard drive the school bus. People need to maintain the privilege of trust. You have to earn the right to be in charge of people. You have to prove a consistency of good character in your own life to lead others in theirs. If you're going to serve people for a living, you cannot live serving yourself.
